Cierzac

On the way of your holiday to Spain or southwestern France, a few miles away from the Exit 36, Pons, in the middle of the country of Poitou Charentes, 15 minutes away from Cognac, this old watermill has been converted into a charming hotel with a refined restaurant. We will welcome you for one night or more, and you can park in our private car park your car as well as a trailer, and even store your bikes in a shelter.

In the 17th Century, the miller’s families PINEAU and GRAVEREAU made the massive inner wheels of the mill turned, using the water of the river Né: Jean GRAVEREAU and his wife Marie rest in the church of Cierzac since 1658. Isabelle, the daughter of Jean Pineau, Marie’s brother, was baptized in the church of Cierzac on May 20th,1656: Some people say she is the one we cross at the bend of a corridor, dressed in her blue lace dress tight with a knot of red fabrics, her blond hair falling down onto her shoulders.

In your plate, the local charentais flavours surprise your taste buds: to be tasted, duck foie gras carpaccio with Baume de Bouteville, foie gras can also be served au torchon, marinated in cognac in some seasons.
Out of our local products, like the lamb of Poitou-Charentes with its amazing taste, you can find quality products such as the beef fillet of Normandy.

All the desserts are home made.
Enjoy at the beginning of your meal Cognac on ice, which can be accompanied with Tonic, Pineau des Charentes white or red, or the excellent very old Pineau des Charentes from Dupuy (Bache & Gabrielsen)
